Facebook profits surge as user base expands

San Francisco: Facebook has reported a powerful surge in profits as the user base of leading social network continued to climb. Profit in the first quarter tripled from a year ago to USD 1.5 billion as revenue jumped to USD 5.4 billion from USD 3.5 billion in the same period a year earlier.
