TN fisherman missing after falling into rough sea

Saturday, 18 February 2017

Rameswaram: A Tamilnadu fisherman is missing after he reportedly fell into the sea from his mechanised boat following heavy wind off Dhanushkodi near here yesterday, a fisheries official said.

A total of four fishermen from Dhanushkodi had put out to sea in a boat this morning when the mishap occurred, Assistant Director of Fisheries Kulanchinathan said. As the sea was rough with strong winds, Saravanan (42) fell into the sea from the boat, he said.

The other three searched for him in vain and later managed to reach the shore, the official added. Marine police along with Indian Coast Guard personnel are searching for the missing fisherman.
