Chennai: Riding on maiden tons by Jagatheesan Kousik and Malolan Rangarajan and some lusty lower-order hitting by L Vignesh and Aswin Crist, Tamilnadu declared at 596 for 9 on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Group B cricket match against Madhya Pradesh at Indore today.

Resuming at 517 for 7, Vignesh and Aswin got together after the fall of Malolan for 131 and put on some valuable runs and took the score to 596. The visiting side then declared when Aswin fell for 29.

The Madhya Pradesh openers began cautiously and took the score to 51 for no loss with openers Aditya Shrivastava and Jalaj Saxena negotiating the initial burst from Aswin Crist & Co.

On the second day yesterday, Tamilnadu added 292 runs from 91 overs and lost just two wickets as the MP bowlers were sent for a leather hunt at the Emerald High School Ground.

Kousik and Rangarajan put on 196 runs for the seventh wicket, after Prasanna was caught behind for 70 off Udit Birla in the 17th over of the day.

Kousik, playing only his second first-class match, scored 151 off 272 balls, including 17 fours and two sixes.
