Ramya: From VJ to benchpress

Tuesday, 21 February 2017
NT Bureau

Chennai: Apart from VJ, anchoring and acting, actress Ramya is passionate about benchpress, a sport that demanded a strong physique and hard work.

She has bagged a bronze medal in the fifth Tamilnadu State unequipped benchpress.

"Hitting the platform with massive State-level competitors was no easy task. But having said that, competing is a fantastic way to stay motivated and boost your confidence. I started at 27.5kg progressed to 32.5kg and attempted my last call at 35kg. It was tough as there were so many rounds this time, but I did not give up easy. I went there, fought hard and took the bronze."

"Though I have qualified for Nationals, I want to take this slow and consistent. I have to work harder and practice more before competing for my nation," says Ramya.
