A feel-good movie that was screened yesterday at the 14th Chennai International Short Film Festival was I Don’t Even Like Her. Directed by Christelle Al-Kayssar, I Don’t Even Like Her is a 2016 Lebanese film that revolves around two school children, Youssef and Rana. Eight-year-old Youssef falls in love with his classmate, Rana.

Christelle who graduated from Lebanese University of Fine Arts with BA in Cinema and Television, made this movie during her final year of college. The film begins with Yousseff passing a love letter to her. She receives it with a smile and as she keeps it under her desk, we find a lot of letters leaving for us to understand that this has been going on a regular basis. Youssef is caught admiring Rana several times. The director shows her touch in describing the boy’s possessiveness for the girl when she plays with another boy. The 15-minutes film is a ‘little sweet romance’ of children shot in a neat and beautiful way.
