Film personalities inaugurate Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru

Chennai: Actor-director-choreographer Prabhudeva and veteran playback singer P Suseela inaugurated Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru, the annual music and dance festival organised by Lakshman Sruthi, at Kamaraj Arangam, in Chennai Friday. A host of music and dance programmes will be held till 25 December.

Noted celebrities, including actresses Anushka and Keerthy Suresh, were also present on the occasion. Pancharatna Kritis were rendered by Carnatic vocalist P S Narayanasamy along with 100 vocalists. Eminent musicians will be performing at the music festival.

As part of flood relief measures, the event will have a tent put up to collect funds for the victims.

Audience attending the programme will be offered free bus services to routes such as Ennore and Avadi from 7.30 pm onwards.

Paying tributes to former President A P J Abdul Kalam, a wax statue of his has been erected at Kamarajar Arangam, the event's venue. A food court at the venue is a major hit among the rasikas. It was inaugurated by veteran film personality K Bhagiyaraj. Noted chef Dhamu was also present on the occasion.
