Chennai: Ernavur A Narayanan, MLA of the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK), has been expelled from the party for functioning in a unilateral manner, party leader R Sarath Kumar said on Wednesday.

In a statement here, he said the party’s general secretary, Karu Nagarajan, and a few others who had joined the BJP also had been expelled from the primary membership of the AISMK.

"As regards Narayanan, who is also vice-president of the party, action was taken for not abiding by the party rules and indulging in anti-party activities," Sarath Kumar said.

Both Sarath Kumar and Narayanan contested on the ruling AIADMK’s symbol and were elected from Tenkasi and Nanguneri constituencies respectively to the Assembly.
